Just came across this story Bicycle Design about a special ride for a special family. Rob Thompson suffered a brain injury after being involved in a car accident three years ago. The incident left Rob wheelchair bound. Fortnuately, Rob’s Dad Dave, an avid cyclist, has a background in mechanical engineering, not to mention complete awesomeness. He built this bike so they can both get out an enjoy the open road. With the return of exercise, Rob has not only reaped the general benefits of exercise, but he has also had improvement in his motor function and cognitive function. He can now assist with pedaling and steering! For this family, the bicycle lane is the road to recovery.

Still A Leg Up on the Competition
Despite having a transfemoral amputation, Jeff Quelet is still kicking the competition. Quelet, who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at the age of nine, finished a sprint triathlon in Chambersburg, Pa. this past Sunday. He completed the course, which consisted of a 500-meter swim, a 16.1-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run, in 1:53. That was just a mere 20 minutes after 1st place in his age group.
Quelet is no stranger to confronting his physical challenges. He also is employed by Ability Prosthetics and Orthotics and his insight has helped his clients reassess their conditions.
