Compression Stockings: Competitive Edge or Fugly Socks.
Okay, I love my compression socks. I don’t know if they really do anything for me but keep my legs warm in the Montana nights, but that’s good enough for me. If you’ve seen some triathletes lately, you may have noticed a lot of long ugly socks. What these are called are are compression garments.They are the newest rage on the triathlon scene. What the hypothesis is that these garments aid in performance and recovery. Being a physician, I have heard that dried dog crap all the way to ancient Chinese mushrooms can cure disease, so I have been a little skeptical. From the research that Ive done, I have found a lot studies showing that there is a measurable decrease in exercise by products, but no noticeable affect on performance with compression garments.
