The HCG Diet: How to Make Others Rich and Yourself Unhealthy
As a wellness physician, I was recently asked about the benefits, if any, of the HCG diet. If you haven’t heard, its the newest rage. And for obvious reasons: You give yourself a shot of a pregnancy hormone, you don’t have to work out, and you lose weight. Or so they say.
Turns out, this “new diet” has been around since the early 20th century. Even better, it was largely discredited by the 1970’s!! The reason its so popular now is that our friendly info commercial men realize they can make a bunch of money from selling it. Another fascinating point about this diet is it only allows you to eat 500 calories a day. With or without HCG, this is something us medical folk call starvation. And yes, in defense of this diet, starvation has been linked to weight loss. Unfortunately, its also been linked to death.

Whats the best diet? Easy. Portion controlled meals and regular exercise. Now, if you want to give me 200 hundred dollars a month for that advice, so be it.
