From Wetsuit To Lawsuit

Without a doubt, the death of a triathlete during a race is a tragic event. It is even more unfortunate if a death occurred secondary to negligence.

It is this scenario that the family of Kim Schmidt is alleging in a recent lawsuit. 43 year old Kim Schmidt died during the swim portion of a triathlon in Oshkosh, Wisconsin last summer. Her family is currently accusing Midwest Sport Events and its director of negligence by not providing adequate emergency care.

Triathlons can certainly be dangerous events. These races demand responsibility on part of the organizers and athletes. I have no information yet as to what events unfolded to result in this loss, but in any case, I wish for a speedy resolution and justice/progress.
