I’ll Have My Parents with a side of Fries…Supersized.

This week has been like a hurricane: You look forward to its exciting arrival until you watch it blow the roof off your condo and submerge your car.

My parents and their friends are visiting me this week. Great to see them all; my kids are especially having a good time. Of course, when you come to Montana, you just must experience all the unique food opportunities we have. Thus, my diet this week has consisted of steak, ribs, fish tacos, huckleberry fudge, huckleberry chocolate, and McDonalds. Oh, and a lot of beer. In short, my diet is has been as healthy as a cheese covered, deep fried cigar.

Despite feeling as sluggish as a Texas beach, I have managed to get some workouts in, including a FTP today and a 5 mile run yesterday. Unfortunately, my FTP went in the wrong direction to 190. I didn’t feel nearly as whipped as I have in pasts tests, and I’m thinking this drop may reflect more my mental endurance vs physical endurance currently.

Had a little hiccup in the second half...

To make things right, going to try for an extra long endurance run tomorrow in the upper teens. Sometime this week, I will have a 5k time trial. Honestly, I’m not sure how useful that would be at this point versus a 7 mile tempo run. We’ll see how it goes.

In the meantime, anyone have any Pepto Bismol?
