Yesterday, All My Pain Seemed So Far Away
Yesterday, I could have said this: I’ve got two Iromans coming up next year. Today, now I can say: Ive got two Ironmans to do this year. Boy, how that can make a difference. Let us commence the freaking out. Take as much time as you need. If you need assistance, here is a nifty tool you can use:
Okay, better now? I hope that you have all your hair still. Jan 1 has always been a big day for me since the concept of a racing season replaced the dichotomy of summer vs school year. Before Jan 1, I was enjoying the off season, training hard no doubt, but still in the mentality of finishing up the 2010 year. Now, its time to put the goggles on and start moving full steam ahead to CDA and Arizona. This is when the game gets serious again for me.
As such, I ended my calorie/bacon debauchery with a breakfast of eggs, bacon, and biscuits. Now, its time to cut back on the alcohol, sweets, and bacon wrapped sausage with a topping of butter. More steamed brussel sprouts please.
Training this week has gone well after bouncing back from the bronchitis. I still am in the short but high intensity training scheme. Two rides thus far and one long run, all with intervals. IF has been .797 and .833 for the rides with 5X2.5′ min at Zone 5. The run with 2X0.5mi and 2X1.0 mile at Zone 5, which came out to be something around 3:11. 3:22 7:20, 7:30 ish. Today, the schedule calls for some more intervals and the rest zone 3 for about 1.5 hours. Tomorrow is a day off. I do have a half marathon coming up at the end of February, so I might try a long run at marathon tempo (8:30) just to get my legs used to rhythm.
Alright everyone, lets get this train rolling:
