Stop. HAMMER Time!
As most of you know, Ive been playing around a little with my nutrition going into this season. Impetus for this was a couple of wall hitting, stomach cramping, butt clenching nightmares last season. Lucky for this Montanan, there is this company you may have heard of called Hammer that is about ten miles from my house. So, it is only fitting that its Hammer Time!
First place I’m starting with is my liquid replenishment. My liquid nutrition has gone from water, to water + Red Bull, to Gatorade, to back to water. Back to scratch essentially. For the next couple of days, I’m going to be trying my hand at that most loved of all lightly flavored liquids that come in small cups: HEED. Tonight, was on the trainer for an hour with 3X12 @ Zone 4 followed by a quick brick on the treadmill. Tried one packet of HEED for the whole time, and I’m happy to report that the first test left me feeling good. More importantly, I wasn’t drained or left running for the toilet. The real test will come when I start adding in my long rides soon.
