What a difference two weeks can make.
Things are starting to look a lot better in the world. First, I finished the first draft of my graduate thesis. Taking that weight off my shoulders was more liberating than getting out of a wet suit 2 sizes too small. On top of that, a separate publication I’ve been working cleared the launch pad and is making its way to the final frontier, the mailbox.
All together, I am feeling more freedom than John Wayne Bobbitt in a national underwear shortage. And it feels great.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that I am not busy. It’s just great getting back to the things I have been neglecting for the past two years. This week, I started tending the lawn appropriately. My wife and I are cleaning and organizing our house like hoarders on TLC. And most importantly, I can pay more attention to my children. Its great to just throw some ball with the boy or read books with my daughter.
And it seems to be paying off in the training realm. I’m back on the bike more reliably and the run is actually feeling great.
Two days ago, I took the kids out in the Chariot stroller. Perhaps it was because I was running slower as I was pushing. Perhaps it was the mega lunch. But it just felt great to run. This is a feeling I haven’t had in a long time.
Hopefully this trend will keep up as I head into the beautiful days of summer in Montana.
